Tracey graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in Business Administration. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Wake Forest University in 1997. While in law school, Tracey served as a Notes and Comments Editor of the Wake Forest Law Review and as a Teacher's Assistant for Legal Research and Writing. After graduation, she worked for two years as a law clerk for Chief Judge Sidney Eagles, Jr. at the North Carolina Court of Appeals.

Tracey joined the firm in 1999 and became a partner in 2007. She specializes in the field of workers' compensation and has extensive experience defending asbestosis and other occupational disease claims. Tracey has tried a multitude of cases before the North Carolina Industrial Commission and also has an extensive appellate practice, having participated in the defense of numerous workers' compensation claims before the North Carolina Court of Appeals and North Carolina Supreme Court.

Tracey is a member of the North Carolina Bar Association's Workers' Compensation Section Council and has spoken at a number of continuing education seminars on workers' compensation topics. Her article, "The Typical Litigated Workers' Compensation Claim From Start to Finish", has been included in The Course and Scope, the newsletter published by the North Carolina Bar Association's Workers' Compensation Section.
