Tara graduated cum laude from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry and a minor in French. She was a Caldwell scholar, a member of the NCSU Fellows Program, and a member of the University Scholars Program. In 2000, she received her Juris Doctor degree from Campbell University School of Law, where she was a member of two appellate advocacy teams and the recipient of a Best Brief award.
Tara joined TCDG in 2000 as an attorney, focusing her practice in the field of workers' compensation. After a brief hiatus beginning in 2008, she returned in July 2011, in the "of counsel" capacity. In that role, she continues to focus on the practice of workers' compensation and appeals. Tara has extensive experience defending workers' compensation claims at the Industrial Commission and NC Court of Appeals, and she has also lectured at a substantial number of continuing education seminars regarding workers' compensation and risk management for attorneys and clients throughout North Carolina and South Carolina. For three years, Tara jointly conducted appellate case law lectures at the NC Bar Association statewide Workers' Compensation Section Convention. She also presented a continuing education seminar for the National Business Institute.
Tara is licensed to appear in all of our state courts and in the United States District Court for the Eastern and Middle Districts of North Carolina, as well as the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. She has been a member of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association, and the Wake County Bar Association. She is also a licensed patent attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Organization.
