In 1992, Melissa graduated magna cum laude from Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics. She received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina in 1995.

Melissa brings a commitment to advocacy to each of her cases. She understands that each case is important and works diligently to address client needs and concerns. Admitted to the bar in North Carolina in 1995, her practice includes workers' compensation, employment law, professional malpractice, including medical malpractice, and general insurance defense cases.

Melissa joined our firm in 1997 and became a partner in 2004. Her trial experience includes cases in both the Civil District and Superior Courts of North Carolina, the North Carolina Court of Appeals, the North Carolina Industrial Commission and the EEOC. She is also licensed to appear and has handled matters in all three Federal District Courts in North Carolina. Melissa was chosen by her peers to be listed as a "Rising Star" in North Carolina Super Lawyers in 2009 and 2010. She is a member of the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys, the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association and the Wake County Bar Association. Melissa is approved by the North Carolina Department of Insurance to present seminars approved for continuing education credit for adjusters and enjoys speaking to clients on current legal issues. In 2009, Melissa became a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America.
