John graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 2004 and received his Juris Doctor from Appalachian School of Law in Virginia in 2007. While in law school John was a member of the Natural Resources Law Journal, Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity, and was actively involved in various community service and philanthropic initiatives.

John began his legal career as law clerk to Deputy Chief Justice Will T. Scott of the Kentucky Supreme Court, during which time he was exposed to a wide range of significant and complex legal matters. As senior law clerk, John actively participated in the research and drafting of jurisprudence from the state's highest court.

John joined the firm in August 2009 and is a part of the Western North Carolina office in Asheville. Recently John became a member of the Buncombe County Bar Association. He is licensed to practice law in both North Carolina and Kentucky.
